Towards reconstruction and economic prosperity
Statement by the President of the International Economic Lobby, Dr. Ali El Masri
After the End of the War in Lebanon: Towards Reconstruction and Economic Prosperity
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
With the end of the war that ravaged our beloved country Lebanon, and with the dawn of a new dawn of peace, I extend my respect and appreciation to our steadfast people who bore the burdens of suffering with patience and courage. This ordeal has demonstrated the strength of our will and our ability to stand united in the face of major challenges.
Today, we stand before a critical stage in Lebanon’s history, a stage that requires us to work hard and unified to rebuild what the war destroyed and lay the foundations for economic and social prosperity.
Our priorities in the next stage:
1. Reconstruction:
• The reconstruction process must be comprehensive and sustainable, based on thoughtful planning that restores the infrastructure to its vitality and takes into account environmental balance and balanced development in all Lebanese regions.
• We are committed to supporting projects aimed at building housing, schools, hospitals, and public facilities, to compensate for citizens’ losses and improve their standard of living.
2. Stimulating the local economy:
• We will work to launch economic initiatives that support small and medium enterprises as the backbone of the national economy.
• We will seek to attract local and international investments, while providing incentives and exemptions to activate the economic cycle.
3. Strengthening international partnerships:
• We will work to enhance cooperation with regional and international organizations, and activate the role of Lebanese communities abroad to support their country.
• There will be a special platform to encourage Arab and foreign investors to contribute to the reconstruction process through development projects with high economic feasibility.
4. Restoring confidence in the state:
• Rebuilding trust between the people and the state is the basis for Lebanon's launch towards a better future.
• We call for radical administrative and political reforms that enhance transparency, fight corruption, and establish a state of law that protects the rights of its citizens.
A call for joint action:
The next stage requires unity of ranks and concerted efforts between the public and private sectors, and between all political and social forces. We must believe that Lebanon is capable of rising again, and work with a spirit of optimism and determination to achieve our ambitions.
Final word:
I pledge, as the head of the International Economic Lobby, to put all our capabilities and expertise at the service of Lebanon and its people, and to work side by side with our partners at home and abroad to achieve a shared vision for a more prosperous, secure and stable country.
May God protect Lebanon and perpetuate its security and peace.
